Sodol Adeul Rock Park (소돌아들바위공원)

Follow the coastal road north of Gangneung to reach the white lighthouse at the end of the hill in Jumunjin. Beyond the lighthouse is Sodol Adeul Rock Park, boasting beautiful and unique rock formations sculpted by wind and waves. The first thing that greets the visitors as they approach from the road is a sharp and angular black rock formation that resembles a bull, followed by other rocks that take on the shape of elephants and many other shapes. Sodolbawi Rock was originally underwater before rising to the surface due to tectonic movements during the Jurassic Period 150 million years ago. It is home to a legend where an old couple prayed for 100 days to conceive a son, and thus a famous spot visited by many newlyweds.

Daegwallyeong Sky Ranch, located in the highlands of Daegwallyeong Pass, is an environmentally friendly ranch that raises over 400 cows, sheep, and horses. Jeongdongjin Station is known as the train station located closest to the ocean in the nation. Built in 1962, the area had as many as 5,000 people during the mining period, but decreased into a small fishing village of under 2,000 after the government's coal industry reform policies went into action. In the early 1990s the train rarely stopped at the station due to minimal passengers, but it gained popularity after appearing in the drama “Sandglass (1995)” and is also widely famous for its sunrise view. The Sunrise Train, a six-hour course from Cheongnyangni Station to Jeongdongjin Station, was added to accommodate more visitors.
