Busan Healing Forest is the first “healing forest” to be founded in the Gyeongsang-do region. Busan Healing Forest is 153ha in size, and it takes about 40 minutes to walk around the central trail starting from the visitor center at the entrance. Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, with a circumference of 18,845 meters along the ridges and valleys of Geumjeongsan Mountain, is a large-scale fortress built during the Joseon dynasty between 1701 and 1703. The fortress is accompanied by Geumjeongsanseong Village and is known for producing Sanseong makgeolli (unrefined rice wine), a traditional Korean alcoholic beverage. The 40-step Culture & Tourism Theme Street is a 450-meter street leading up to the 40-step stairway of the '40-step Cultural Center' and continues to the Palseong Tour.
The time-honored 40-step stairway embodies the joys and sorrows of refugees and those displaced by the Korean War. The entire area has been recently renovated to reflect life in Korea in the 50s & 60s.
