Busan Cultural Center began construction in October 1983 and finished constructing three halls in 1993. In April 2010, the cultural center underwent renovations and reopend in October. The sculpture park exhibits 34 pieces of artworks created and donated by sculptors from 21 nations who provided support in the Korean War. These sculptures were created as a part of UN Memorial Park International Sculpture Symposium (September 15-30, 2000) that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War in honor of those who fought in the war. The UN Sculpture Park had its opening ceremony on October 24, 2001.

The museum aims to provide more extensive research into uncovering historical artifacts, and provide educational programs to visitors.

Doraemon in Busan is a themed exhibition based on the popular animation "Doraemon." The exhibition takes place from May 1 to November 3 in Busan. There is a special zone dedicated to incorporating the charms of Busan with Doraemon. Other highlights of the exhibition in the 6-meter tall Doraemon statue outside and limited merch available on the 3rd floor. The exhibition is open from 11 to 19:30, and last admission is at 19:00.
