Jumunjin Breakwater was made famous as the filming site of the show “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016).” Serving as the backdrop of the two leads’ fateful first meeting, the breakwater still retains its beautiful scenery. Many visitors recreate the scene from their favorite show here.
The breakwater itself is divided into the east and the west parts. The eastern breakwater is 1 kilometer, while the western breakwater is 200 meters long. One can fish for plaice from spring to September, while spotty belly greenling, spipefish, and rockfish can be found in October. From December to March, grey mullet and big-scaled redfin become the main species caught here. The best season to fish here is between October and March.

Jumunjin Port, one of the main fishing ports on the east coast, is home to over 350 fishing boats. A 1.2-meter-long circular walkway encircles the sheep grazing field, and a leisurely stroll along this path takes about 40 minutes. The ranch is also known for its numerous scenic photo opportunities. Additionally, a wildlife habitat community is established at the center of the ranch, enhancing its ecological appeal.

Jumunjin Lighthouse (주문진 등대)

Established on March 20, 1918, Jumunjin Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in the Gangwon region. The lighthouse is 3 meters in diameter at the base and 10 meters in x_height with white mortar covering the exterior wall. The building shows the early structure of Korean lighthouse architecture, which is a great value in terms of the nation’s architectural history. The light signal blinks at 15-second intervals and can be seen from 37 kilometers away. The original lighthouse was destroyed during the Korean War but was rebuilt in 1951.
