In fact, the name Eoreumgol Valley references how the lush forests and the area’s geographical features have made the summer here so cool that the ice (eoreum) is said to have been left frozen even in the x_height of summer. The water originating from Eoreumgol Valley flows into the Cheongpungho Lake through Neungganggyegok Valley.

Deokjusa Temple is a branch temple of Beopjusa Temple, the head temple of the 5th district of the Jogye Order. The temple is believed to have been established in 597 AD by Princess Deokju, the last princess of the Silla Kingdom. According to legend, Princess Deokju stayed at the site with Prince Ma-ui and built the temple, naming it after herself, along with the cave nearby. However, there are no records to confirm or refute these claims.

The temple once stood in front of the Rock-carved Standing Buddha of Deokjusa Temple (a Treasure), but was burned down during the Korean War. The present temple building stands about 1.7 kilometers from the original temple site and is the result of reconstruction efforts conducted in the 1970s.

Course 1 takes you past the Migratory Bird Observation Park to the riverside trail, the area's highlight, before passing the old quay and arriving at the Angseong Hot Springs Square in a 7km-long, 2 hr. journey. Course 2 takes you over the Saebajisan Mountain Observatory to Binaeseom Island before re-tracing Course 1 from the old quay. After going down the riverside trail and the Migratory Bird Observation Park, the course takes you back to Angseong Hot Springs Square in a 17km-long, 4 hr. journey.
In <Crash Landing on You>, Binaeseom Island served as the filming location for the scene where the two leads and the supporting actors from the North Korean side have a picnic before the two leads escape from North Korea.
