The area of Naju has long been at the forefront of the natural dyeing and silk production industry. The natural setting of fresh water from the Yeongsangang River along with the salt water from the sea are perfect for growing the plants necessary for a deep indigo color. As such, it is the only area to be recognized for its natural dyeing (Important Intangible Cultural Heritage) by the Cultural Heritage Administration. The best place to experience this local heritage is at the Natural Dyeing Culture Center. The center offers experience programs and educational programs, as well as exhibitions and sales of naturally dyed products.

Bitgoeul Korea Traditional Classical Music Instruction Hall offers various programs throughout the year. Since 2002, classes on traditional instruments are available, as well as separate children gugak classes. Special exhibition on the second floor has various instruments that visitors can actually try. The permanent exhibition on the third floor has 45 different gugak instruments as well as videos to further provide detailed information. The main area is the performance hall on B1-B2F, with 137 seats, that offers performances every Thursday for free from traditional gugak to fusion music.

Kkotpineun Chunsamwol is a traditional Korean teahouse nestled in a picturesque hanok. It specializes in authentic Korean beverages and desserts. The teahouse's signature offering is ssanghwatang, an herbal tonic tea prepared with chestnuts, gingko, and nuts in a homemade decoction. Other popular items include Yennal Bingsu (shaved ice with grain and black sesame ice cream), and a nutty latte with bean powder. The Yeongsangang River Bike Road, stretching 133 kilometers along the Yeongsangang River in Gwangju, offers a scenic route. It winds past notable landmarks including the Seungchonbo Reservoir, Najudaegyo Bridge, Yeongsanpo Port, Hwangpo sailboat, Natural Dyeing Culture Center, and Naru Village. Along the path, riders can enjoy five of the most picturesque spots in Yeongsan. The starting point of the route, the Yeongsangang River Bike Road Information Center, provides free bicycle rentals and bike safety training.

Songjeong Station Market was opened in 1913 in connection with the opening of Gwangju-Songjeong Station. For many years, the market was the go-to-place for necessary items and produce, but with the increase of large supermarts in the 1990s, people began to visit traditional markets less and less. In order to increase the liveliness of Songjeong Station Market and showcase the difference between modern marts and a traditional market, the entire space was redesigned around the theme of time.

The newly redesigned 1913 Songjeong Station Market, located just across the street from Gwangju-Songjeong KTX Station, has a bright appearance with modern-styled architecture and signboards detailing the history of the various shops. Visitors can enjoy all the classic market foods here, such as hotteok (hot griddle cakes), gyeran bap (rice with egg), and eomuk (fish cake).

Gwangju World Cup Stadium is a major symbol of Gwangju. Designed to reflect the notion of ‘spreading far and wide’ the exterior is shaped like spokes of a wheel. When lit up, the stadium looks like a glowing dome. The ceiling and large ‘Y’-shaped pillars resemble a ‘Go,’ an instrument used in a traditional game from Gwangju, Gossaumnori. These architectural features were designed to capture and reflect the traditional aspects of Gwangju. The soccer stadium can accommodate up to 40,000 people at once and has many subsidiary facilities, including media center, athlete waiting room, medical care facilities, and more.
