Seongjusan Recreational Forest in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do is especially popular in spring because of its cherry blossoms and beautiful wildflowers. Also, the observatory 100 meters below the mountain peak (680 meters in elevation) offers a great view of Seongju-myeon and Oesan-myeon. Roundtrip hike to the peak takes approximately 2-3 hours.

Nearby tourist attractions include the Seongjusaji Temple site and a coal museum (15 minutes on foot), as well as Daecheon Beach and Muchangpo Beach (20-30 minutes by car).

Situated in Boryeong (Chungcheongnam-do), Boryeong Coal Museum focuses on the history of the coal industry and its importance. Its indoor and outdoor exhibition halls display a wide array of coal equipment employed to mine and carry coal. Visitors can also see a video depicting the coal mining process.

A reproduced mine is equipped with a tunnel (using the cold air from a closed mine) and decorated with photos on the wall of the tunnel. Reproducing the real process of coal mining, visitors may feel as if they are going up and down the mine, 400m underground. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (to 5 p.m. during the winter season); it is closed on Mondays.

Chilgapsan Recreational Forest opened in 1990 within a lush natural forest. The park offers many amenities to enjoy a relaxing time in nature. Overnight guests can stay in a cabin, complete with heating, a kitchen, and shower, or camp in the campground. The forest is also capable of hosting retreats, with training buildings and a lecture hall. Day visitors can enjoy the many walking trails and hiking paths, as well as a water playground and observation decks. The forest is located next to Chilgapsan Provincial Park, with many valleys in the area for more time in nature, as well as Cheonjangho Lake and Modeoksa Temple.

Muryangsa Temple, located at the foot of Mansusan Mountain in Buyeo-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, is said to have been built during the reign of Silla King Munmu by national preceptor Beomil. Geungnakjeon Hall can be seen after passing through Sacheonwangmun Gate, recognizably the best location for taking in the beauty of Muryangsa Temple. The temple grounds hold the Two-story Geungnakjeon Hall, Five-story Stone Pagoda, and Stone Lantern, all in a row.

The temple is also famous for being the place where Kim Siseup, one of the Saengyuksin (Six Loyal Subjects of the Joseon dynasty), spent his last few days before death. Visitors can see his portrait inside the temple. Although the temple site is included in Buyeo-gun’s administrative district, it is located closer to downtown Boryeong.

Designed to mimic the traditional kilns of the Baekje period, the Baekje Cultural Museum is a unique space that blends historical elegance with immersive exhibits. It showcases five key masterpieces: the historic Baekje kiln site that’s over 1,500 years old, exquisite blue tiles, an evocative painting of Choi Ik-hyeon's exile, an intricate rubbing of the Confucius statue, and a resplendent golden turtle. Additionally, the museum offers a variety of interactive centers like a gold mine exploration area, an agricultural culture center, an exhibition hall that transports viewers back to the 1960s. There are also Han Sang-don Memorial Hall, Yoo Sang-ok Donation Room, and Jeongseung Park.
