Le temple Donggosa est un temple bouddhiste de l’ordre Taego, situé sur le mont Seungamsan à Gyo-dong, dans la ville de Jeonju, au sein de la région du Jeollabuk-do. La randonnée jusqu’au temple est une expérience rafraîchissante, de par l’air frais environnant et de la vue panoramique sur le centre de Jeonju depuis le temple. Les bâtisses furent construites les unes après les autres le long de la crête et sont alignées avec Daeungjeon, le bâtiment principal situé au milieu.

Le temple Donggosa est de petite taille mais fut merveilleusement décoré avec des portraits de grands moines bouddhistes défunts et des peintures bouddhistes murales réalisées sur du bois. Le chemin de randonnée à la droite du temple Donggosa mène au domaine des martyrs de Chimyeongjasan, qui accueille les tombes de nombreux catholiques, persécutés pendant la période tardive de la dynastie Joseon.

La montagne des martyrs est l’oeuvre des catholiques persecutés de Jeonju au 18ème siècle. De nombreux martyrs y sont enterrés y compris un couple marié qui fit le voeu de rester vierge pour l’éternité. Le mari de ce fameux couple est Lee Jong-cheol, son père, un autre martyr décida qu’il devait se marier mais rester pieux et pure.
Ce sont sept personnes de sa famille qui reposent dans ce cimetière. Il existe aussi un chemin de croix et une cathédrale.

Le Musée de Jeonju a ouvert ses portes en 2002, montrant au public la longue et fascinante Histoire de la Corée. Il est divisé en deux expositions permanentes. La première concerne la Révolution des Fermiers Donghak (Insurrection de 1894 contre le colonialisme japonais). Evènement ayant joué un rôle important quant au dévelopement de la ville de Jeonju. La deuxième exposition est dédicacée à la mémoire des résistants, qui ont rapidement gagné la confiance des civils afin de lutter contre l’invasion japonaise. Il y a aussi un espace réservé à la mémoire du mouvement d’indépendance lorsque la Corée recouvra sa liberté face au Japon. D’autres espaces sont dédiés aux soulèvements ou évènements les plus importants de l’Histoire de la Corée.

Le studio du film de Jeonju est situé à Sangnim-dong dans la ville de Jeonju et consiste en un set de studios extérieurs et intérieurs, dans un immeuble de 2 étages incluant un sous-sol de 56 900m².
Les équipements secondaires comprennent une salle de construction, une salle pour le personnel, une salle d’habillement, une salle d’art et un lounge. Le studio intérieur en particulier est considéré comme l’un des meilleurs de Corée pour filmer les effets spéciaux, notamment grâce à son plafond haut de 17 mètres et son équipement de contrôle de pression de l’eau pour créer des scènes artificielles sous la pluie. Inauguré en avril 2008, le Studio du film de Jeonju est le premier studio de Corée à l’initiative du gouvernement local à être équipé d’infrastructures extérieures modulables. De nombreux films coréens populaires ont réalisé une partie du tournage en son sein, incluant Ssanghwajeom (2008), Private Eye (2009), Jeonuchi (2009), The Unjust (2010), Battlefield Heroes (2010) et My Way (2011).

Le musée national de Jeonju est un centre de recherche, de conservation et d’exposition au service des trésors du Jeollabuk-do.
Il conserve 24.000 objets anciens pour la plupart venant des royaumes de Seonsa, Mahan, et Baekje.

Il y a aussi de nombreux objets bouddhiques artisanaux, des poteries, des objets anciens en or et des ustensiles artisanaux.
Parmi cela, 1,100 pièces peuvent-être vu au musée Sangseol.

Lorsque vous entrez au rez –de - chaussée, vous pouvez voir la salle des antiquités composée en 4 parties dont la partie Seonsa.
Au 1er étage la salle des Arts et celle du folklore. Dans la salle des arts sont exposés des oeuvres de la région du Jeollabuk-do.
La salle est divisée entre des sculptures bouddhiques, des oeuvres en métal, des poteries Goryeo, des documents historiques et une galerie de peintures.
La salle du folklore est juste en face de la salle des arts et nous fait décourvrir l’unique style de vie de la région du Jeollabuk-do.
Elle est composée de la section agriculture, habitudes alimentaires, et art folklorique.
Différemment des autres pièces d’exposition, elle rassemble divers matériels de manière à avoir une vue d’ensemble compréhensible de la vie populaire de la région.

Près du musée national de Jeonju se trouve l’université de Jeonju.
Si vous avez un peu de temps, allez donc visiter le campus qui est fort propre et calme; allez à la rencontre des étudiants afin de discuter de leur culture avec eux.
