Le Musée du Bambou Coréen a été ouvert en mars 1998. Il s’agit d’un vaste complexe permettant aux visiteurs de découvrir l'univers des produits en bambou en Corée. Il fut établi initialement pour servir de zone de repos pour les visiteurs de Damyang et pour promouvoir les arts uniques du bambou de la région.

Le musée possède cinq salles d’expositions et une collection d’environ 2500 produits en bambou, allant des produits datant de la dynastie Joseon jusqu’à des produits plus modernes ainsi que des produits étrangers. Les arts du bambou de Damyang ont une histoire de plus de 500 ans. De plus, les produits en bambou sont réputés pour leur grande qualité grâce notamment à leur resistance puisque dans la mesure où seuls des produits sur mesure sont utilisés par les artisans. 

Le musée propose également chaque année un festival autour du bambou au mois de mai.

Damyang, located in Jeollanam-do, is not only famous for its bamboo trees, but is also for its tteokgalbi, or grilled short rib patties. Tteokgalbibonga, known for its signature tteokgalbi, has become quite famous in the area. With its exquisite resemblance to injeolmi (rice cakes coated with powdered soybeans) and the way it melts in your mouth, it’s no wonder Tteokgalbibonga attracts guests from as far as Japan.
Tteokgalbi gets its name from its resemblance to rice cakes, or tteok. In addition to its texture, its savory marinade brings out the meaty flavor of tteokgalbi. Aside from their main dish, hanu (Korean beef) tteokgalbi, they also have dwaejigalbi, bulgogi, and galbi tang available, served with regular side dishes of a Korean set menu, even including a dessert. Située à Damyang, dans la province de Jeollanam-do, Gwangbangjerim (Monument Naturel numéro 366) est une forêt cultivée le long du bord de la rivière Damyangcheon parcourant le comté. Cette forêt longue de 2 km s’étend du village Dongjeong à Namsan-ri jusqu’à Hwanggeum-ri, Subuk-myeon et Gangui-ri, Daejeon-myeon. Gwangbangjerim est une forêt spéciale créée par l’homme afin de prévenir un éventuel débordement de la rivière et possède de nombreux gros arbres vieux de 200 à 300 ans.

La forêt est si belle qu’elle fut choisie comme étant la plus belle du pays par le Service Forestier de Corée. Afin de profiter de la beauté de la nature, les touristes s’y rendent en nombre tout le long de l’année. Son parc de sculptures fait aussi partie des lieux incontournables. Les sites tourisistiques situés à proximité sont le jardin de bambou de Jungnogwon et la route des metasequoias.
