Balsan Village is a representative neighborhood of Gwangju and is a prime example of how something amazing can come out of something bad. First settled by Korean war refugees, the small houses jam-packed on a hillside attracted young people looking for work in the 1970s and '80s, mainly females working in the garment factories nearby. Recently, the addition of colorful murals and public spaces has given the village a breath of new life.

Beauty Play is a K-beauty experience center operated by the Korea Cosmetics Industry Institute and supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It offers a wide variety of sample Korean beauty products for testing as well as diverse beauty experience programs such as makeup touch-up service (choice of base, eyes, or lips), personal color test, and skin evaluation. Visitors can also ask for product recommendation based on their skin type or skincare concerns. Beauty Play also frequently hosts beauty seminars and one-day classes, which are announced online via its official website. International tourists can apply for a full makeup service with an advance reservation free of charge.
Beauty Play has two branches in Seoul: Myeong-dong and Hongdae. Beauty Play Hongdae is located in Hongdae Street, where visitors can find recent trends, clubs, cafes and delicious foods.
Ongmasan Mountain (옥마산)

Ongmasan Mountain is located in the southern part of Boryeong with its highest point reaching 601 meters above sea level. Although the mountain encompasses the areas of Myeongcheon-dong and Nampo-myeon, it can easily be identified due to the transmission tower installed at the peak. The mountain's name is said to have derived from the legend of the last king of the Silla period and his horse that was hit with a jade arrow. The mountain has a paragliding center and a pine forest with rest spots. At the northern section of the summit, there is a pavilion that offers an excellent vista and Daeyeongsa Temple, renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. Ongmasan Mountain can be reached by taking the National Roads 21 and 40, and other regional highways as well as expressways. Nearby attractions include Boryeong Mugunghwa Arboretum, Seongjusan Mountain, Seongjusan Recreational Forest, Boryeong Coal Museum, and Gaehwa Herb Land.
Garden of Sky (하늘물빛정원)

The Sunshine Studo and 1950 Studio are decorated in the theme of the aftermath of the Korean War, allowing one to get a glimpse and knowledge of what life in Korea was like after the war.
