Chuam Beach (추암해변)

Chuam Beach is a white sandy beach with various unique rock formations. Even though the beach itself is small, there are plenty of things to see like beautiful sunsets, a suspension bridge over the ocean, and the famous Chotdaebawi Rock. The suspension bridge is a perfect photo spot with the East Sea in the backdrop. There is also Haeamjeong Pavilion, first built in 1361 and renovated in 1790. Chuam Sculpture Park at the end of the suspension bridge is also worth a visit.

Haegasa is a site named after the tale of 'Haega' in "The Heritage of the Three States." While the original Haegasa is assumed to be on Wausan Mountain at the northern end of Samcheok Beach, it has been restored on Jeungsandong Beach against the backdrop of beautiful scenery. Located near Haegasa are Chuam Beach and Surobuin Park, which hosues a dragon ball, upon which people make their wishes.

Samcheok Beach is easily accessible and has a vast white sandy beach that is 1.2 kilometers long and 100 meters wide. Thanks to its pine tree forest, clean white sand, shallow waters, and convenient amenities, over 500,000 vacationers visit the beach every year. Entertaining events such as a barehanded flounder fishing contest also take place here.

Additionally, the menu includes samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), gabeurisal (grilled blade-end fatback), and someori gukbap (beef head meat and rice soup). Conveniently situated just 1 kilometer from KTX Mukho Station, the restaurant is within easy walking distance.

Jageunhujinhaebyeon Beach, situated adjacent to Samcheokhaebyeon Beach, provides a serene and picturesque setting. Gwaneumgul Cave has a reputation of being a must-explore cave by not only Korean scientists but throughout cave academia around the world. The entrance of the cave is 4.2 meters wide, 3 meters high and 1.6 kilometers deep. The underground water flows from the entrance all the way to end all year long producing approximately 15,000 ㎥ per day. The cave also has 4 waterfalls along the way with the largest being 9 meters high. The cave is full of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as straw soda, columns, flowstones, cave corals, aragonite crystals and more. The cave has a total of 24 different types of living organisms, making a desirable cave for academic research.

Pencil Museum (연필뮤지엄)

Pencil Museum, located in Donghae, is the first museum in Korea dedicated to pencils and has a collection of over 3,000 pencils from 100 countries worldwide. The exhibition consists of a pencil history corner and a themed exhibition that displays art pencils and character pencils. The museum also has an experience center where visitors can test out different kinds of pencils and a dedicated collection exhibit area. The 4th floor consists of an art shop and a cafe where one can enjoy the view of the East Sea.

East Sea Jungang Market (동쪽바다중앙시장)

동쪽바다 중앙시장은 1943년경 묵호항 개항과 함께 자연스럽게 형성된 시장이다. 2001년부터 현재까지 비가림(하양막) 시설을 연차적으로 설치하여, 전통적인 재래시장에서 탈피한 현대적인 시장으로 탈바꿈하였다. 주차장 시설도 갖추고 있으며, 2006년에는 시장 상인회가 구성되고 인정시장으로 등록되었다. 시장 내에는 고소한 냄새로 사람들의 발길을 끄는 ‘구이 타운’과, 2016년 중소기업청 공모사업인 ‘청년상인 창업 지원 사업’의 일환으로 조성된 청년몰 ‘싱싱스’가 함께 운영되고 있어 더욱 활기찬 분위기를 자아낸다.

East Sea Jungang Market naturally formed after the opening of Mukho Port in 1943. Since 2001, the market has been installing rain covers and transitioning from a traditional-style market to a modern-day market equipped with a parking lot. In addition to the wide array of goods, the market also has Gui Town ("Grill Town"), attracting customers with savory cooking smell, and a youth market "Singsings."

Hwanseongul Cave (Daei-ri Cave System) (환선굴 (대이리 동굴지대))

Hwanseongul Cave is the largest limestone cave in Asia, formed estimated 530 million years ago. The cafe features fantastic rocks in various shapes, stalagmites, and stalactites. There have been 47 new breeds of animals discovered in Hwanseongul Cave, with four of these being found to only live in this cave. In April 2010, a monorail was installed within the cave to make it more convenient for people to see all the natural habitat.
