Memilchon Makguksu gained public attention for its delicious gondeure bap (thistle rice) and makguksu (buckwheat noodles) after appearing in the television show "Wednesday Food Talk." The restaurant has even earned patents for their original recipes of certain dishes. The most popular menu item is Gondeure Set Menu, which includes a thistle hot pot rice served along with a variety of side dishes. The buckwheat noodles served at this restaurant offers a refreshing taste that can only be encountered in Gangwon. The restaurant may run out of ingredients and close early during vacation season, so visitors are advised to call and check for availability in advance. Drivers can use the public parking lot across from the restaurant.

It is also designed to be the most environmental-friendly ski resort in the nation. Preserving the mountain while making the slopes, in spring various wild edible greens are seen and in summer many wild flowers bloom, making the resort an eco-travel attraction all year round. The revolving restaurant at the mountain top, 1,340 meters above sea level, provides an amazing view of the surrounding area with one full rotation every hour.

Named to reflect the concept “first and foremost,” High1 is a multipurpose leisure resort consisting of High1 Resort, Kangwon Land Convention Hotel, Kangwon Land Casino, High1 Grand Hotel Main Tower, High1 Ski, High1 C.C., High1 Hotel, Valley Condominium, and Mountain Condominium. The ski resort, one of the most popular parts of the High1 complex, offers a 4.2 kilometer-long slope for beginners that runs from the summit of Jijangsan Mountain (altitude 1,345 meters). The ski resort has a total of 18 slopes, 3 gondolas, and 7 lifts.

The two hotels and three condominiums at High1 house a total of 1,577 rooms. Frequented by both Korean and non-Korean travelers, High1 also boasts an 18-hole golf course and Unamjeong, a traditional Korean restaurant. Cheongoksan Mountain, towering 1,277 meters above sea level, stands southeast of Mangyeongdae Observatory atop Taebaeksan Mountain. The entire mountain area is designated as a national recreational forest. As the largest of its kind in Korea, it offers an array of facilities including a water playground, fitness station, and campground. Midway up the moutain, visitors can discover Hongjesa Temple and marvel at Goseon Valley, where a 40km-long stream gracefully skirts the mountain. Nearby attractions include Hyeonbulsa Temple, known for its Pagoda to the Fallen Patriots, Bulyoungsa Temple, Cheongnyangsan Mountain, and Samijeong Pavillion.

Cheongoksan National Recreational Forest is located in Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The forest is composed of 100-year-old white pine trees brimming with pine nuts, along with pines and larches. In the forest, you can see the trees standing tall amidst the majestic rock formations. If you walk along the mountain trail, you will come to a suspension bridge, and after crossing, you will enter a section of forest that has maintained an old, almost primeval, feeling.

In spring, beautiful wild flowers blossom throughout the forest, magnolias in particular, bloom within the valley. Cheongoksan National Recreational Forest features a variety of facilities such as a nearby water park, children’s playground, fitness center, campsite and an outdoor lecture field. The water in the water park is cold and very clean, using natural stream water. In nearby Baekcheongyegok Valley, you may also see Manchurian trout, which live in clean, fresh water streams. Hyeonbulsa Temple is also located in the valley.

High1 Haneulgil Trekking trails were created using the Baegunsan Mountain hiking trail and roads used by coal miners in the past. The trekking trails consist of Mureungdowongil, Untangodogil, and Gowonsupgil trails. The trails are easy enough even for children to hike up. Once visitors reach the top, they can get down conveniently on the Sky1340 mountain gondola.

Deokangsan Mountain is where Hwanseongul Cave is located, and is part of the Samcheok Daei-ri Cave Area, designated as Natural Monument No. 178.
