Opened on June 10, 1994, the Busan Marine Natural History Museum is the first and largest museum of its kind in Korea. The museum features some 25,000 marine specimens from over 100 countries around the world, including rare living species and those native to Korea. The museum opened a second exhibition hall in April 2003, and launched the Busan Fishing Village Folk Museum on February 23, 2007.

Dongnae Byeljang in Busan is a villa with over a century of history. The Dongnaeeupseong History Festival offers an immersive experience of the history and culture of Dongnaeeupseong Walled Town, where the Battle of Dongnaeseong Fortress took place during the Japanese Invasions of Korea in 1592. Highlights include a musical dramatizing the patriotic spirit of the Dongnae Governor during the battle and various hands-on experiences, such as participating as Dongnae citizens using traditional Joseon-era coins.

Jangyu Daecheonggyegok Valley (장유대청계곡)

The 6-kilometer-long Jangyu Daecheonggyegok Valley is located at the foot of Bulmosan Mountain, where the water flowing into the valley divides into two principal streams. Lush trees and clean water make up the area’s beautiful natural landscape. A 30-minute hike along the valley will take hikers to Jangyuam Hermitage where they will find the stupa of Jangyuhwasang, who is said to have spread Buddhism for the first time in Korea.

Visitors flock to Jangyu Daecheonggyegok Valley not only to enjoy the scenery, but also to taste the delicious duck, chicken, and baeksuk (chicken soup with rice) dishes sold around the area. In 1984, the valley was integrated into Jangyupokpo Recreational Park where bridges were built and water supply facilities were placed at two locations. Sangjeolgyo Bridge at the entrance to the valley is 30 meters, while Bonpogyo Bridge is 4 meters. A 1,720 meter-long forest trail was also created. The rugged mountain terrain offers a challenging, yet highly interesting climb up the mountain.

Busan’s Dongnae Hot Springs is an old and famous hot spring whose historic records trace back to Samguk Yusa, in the 13th Century CE. Its magnesium-rich 65℃ hot springs water is said to be highly effective toward the treatment of neuropathic pain, dermal disorders, and stomach disorders. Nokcheon Hotel’s history traces back to Nokcheonjang, a hot springs facility constructed in 1962 with Dongnae Hot Springs water. The hotel itself was constructed in 1980. Hurshimchung is a large-scale hot spring facility using natural hot spring water and lit by natural lighting through the ceiling. Known for its magnesium-rich hot spring water, it is believed to be beneficial for conditions such as neuralgia, cut wounds, back pain, and muscle aches. The facility includes large hot spring baths, saunas, restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, and massage shops. The hot spring baths feature various event baths using natural bathing ingredients and medicinal herb depending on the season.
