Chungnyeolsa Shrine in Tongyeong is dedicated to Admiral Yi Sun-sin, a national hero whose naval victories were crucial in repelling Japanese invasions of Korea in the 1590s. The shrine complex includes Dongjae and Seojae, where ritual ceremonies are prepared; a main shrine housing his spirit tablet and portrait; and an exhibit hall showcasing artifacts related to the Japanese Invasion of 1592. Rituals honoring the Admiral continue to be held every spring and fall to this day.

Tongyeong Cable Car installed on Mireuksan Mountain in Tongyeong is 1,975 meters long, and a bi-cable automatic circulation gondola system was installed using the latest Swiss technology. At an average speed of 4 meters per second, it takes about 9 minutes to reach the upper station, circulating a total of 48 gondolas that consist of 47 passenger gondolas and 1 cargo gondola. The cable car implemented an eco-friendly design and has only one intermediate support with the aim of protecting the environment while providing a comfortable ride for passengers. In addition, the 8-person gondolas operate non-stop, allowing passengers to board without delay and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Korea’s beautiful ocean in privacy with their loved ones. They also have a pet-friendly cable car, allowing visitors to ride with their pet.

Mireukdo Island is located in Tongyeong, a city that holds great historical significance for being the home of the Tongjeyeong naval station during the Joseon dynasty. The Tongyeong base served as the central command station for the three other naval bases in the Gyeongsang, Jeolla and Chungcheong regions.

Not only is Mireukdo Island designated as a Special Tourist Zone, it is also a part of the Hallyeohaesang National Park and serves as the center of tourism in the South Coast. The Mireukdo Special Tourist Zone, with the Donam Tourist Complex as its core, is well-equipped with a variety of leisure facilities, tourist accommodations and restaurants. This district caters to visitors with yacht services and a variety of water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking and water skiing. Exceptionally popular is the ferry cruise that takes visitors to Hansando Island, which is located just off the coast of Tongyeong, and to the other scenic islands such as Bijindo and Maemuldo.

Mireukdo Island is connected to Tongyeong through an undersea tunnel, Chungmu Bridge and Tongyeong Bridge, making it even more accessible to visitors. At the center of the island is the towering Mireuksan Mountain. The panoramic Hallyeosudo Viewing Ropeway, which opened in 2008, takes visitors to the summit of Mireuksan Mountain. The top offers a commanding view of the forests and valleys below. On a clear day, visitors can even see the Japanese island of Tsushima. The mountain’s hiking trails are well-maintained and are suitable for short hikes. The most traveled trail is the one starting from Yonghwasa Temple. Hikers taking this trail pass through Gwaneumsa Temple and Mireukjae Pass to reach the top. The trail leads to Miraesa Temple and a grass field on the way down before finally going back to Yonghwasa Temple.

Skyline Luge is a luge kart adventure experience that was specially designed for downhill riding and features four tracks with a total distance of 3.8 kilometers. Visitors can reach the starting point by taking the Sky Ride lift. The track offers many thrilling sections, like curves and tunnels. The rides were designed to be easy and safe, and even children between x_heights 85 - 120 centimeters can enjoy the ride when accompanied by a guardian over age 19 and 150 centimeters in x_height.

Yours Guest House is a foreigner-only guesthouse in a residential area of Mireuk Island, Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do. All guestrooms are ondol style, with 1-3 person rooms on the 1st floor and 4-person family rooms on the 2nd floor. Constructed over a 16-month period from 1931 to 1932, the undersea tunnel in Tongyeong is Asia’s first submarine tunnel. For its construction, the sea water was blocked at both ends, the tunnel was dug underground, and was paved with concrete. The Korean word “Yongmundalyang” engraved at the entrance of this 483-meter long, 5-meter wide tunnel means “the entrance of an undersea tunnel that connects island to land.”

The Jeon Hyuck Lim Museum of Art is located on the way to Yonghwasa Temple on Mireuksan Mountain in Tongyeong. This site used to be the location of the house where master painter Jeon Hyuck-lim lived for about 30 years since 1975. A new building was constructed and the site was turned into a creative space, opening to the public on May 11, 2003.

The outer walls of the building is decorated with the master painter's paintings and his son Yeonggeun's paintings which were selected from among their works and reproduced by utilizing about 7,500 20x20cm ceramic tiles, with a view to represent the image of Tongyeong and the artistic image of the master painter. In particular, the front wall on the third floor is a reproduction of the great artist's work titled "Window" painted in 1992.

Situated in the middle of Mireukdo Island on the southern part of Tongyeong, Mireuksan Mountain (altitude 458.4 meters) is also sometimes referred to as Yonghwasan Mountain after Yonghwasa Temple. Additional temples on the mountain include the more secluded Gwaneumam and Dosoram Hermitages, as well as Miraesa Temple. While not as tall as other mountains, it is famous for its lush forest, valleys with pure water, odd-shaped rocks, and rock caves. The mountain is beautiful year round with royal azalea in spring, bright foliage in fall, and breathtaking views of the Korean archipelago.
