Chuncheon Art Gallery started from a simple exhibition at the Children’s Center in Samcheon-dong in 1995. Thanks to this exhibition and the continued efforts of the Chuncheon Fine Arts Association to make Chuncheon a city of culture and arts, the gallery was able to move and open as a permanent exhibition space. The gallery offers local artists a venue to actively present their works, serving as a stimulant for expanding the popularity of culture and arts and enriching the lives of citizens. Embracing Uiamho Lake, KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon is a cultural complex that consists of the Art Center and the Stay building. The Art Center was established by remodeling the previous Chuncheon Children’s Center, while the Stay building was built by remodeling the previous Gangwon-do Sports Center. With an open view of the lake at the front, the Art Center is known for its construction design by Korea’s master architect, late Kim Swoo-geun. When viewed from the sky, the Art Center, which was built with Kim’s unique construction technique, resembles a butterfly sitting on the lakeside. Opened as the Children’s Center in 1980, the building was abandoned for a while and then was re-born as KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon in 2014. Sangsangmadang, as part of the social contribution and restoration program of KT&G, aims to support various cultural and arts activities and offer the public an opportunity to appreciate arts and culture. While keeping its original frame of the construction in consideration of its architectural value, KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon provides diverse amenities such as a theater, gallery, cafe, art shop, and so on. It has also a charming outdoor space. It has an outdoor stage near Uiamho Lake, and the walking path and the bicycle path are available in front of the stage. In addition, the Forest Experience Center for Children behind the outdoor stage provides diverse interesting attractions.

KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon Stay, near Uiam Lake in Gangwon-do, is a cultral space with "art" and "stay". It has an unusual exterior and offers tastful designed rooms - all of which are bright and comfy with AC, heating and ondol temperature control. There is a restaurant on the first floor, and in the basement guests will find a self-catering area, a music practice room, and a performance room. Cycling along Lake Uiam shore or taking a walk at Jungdo Mullegil, Gongjicheon Amusement Pakr are highly recommended.

Statue of Soyanggang Maid (소양강처녀상)

This Soyanggang Maiden Statue stands high between Soyanggang Skywalk and Soyang i(2)gyo Bridge. This statue, representing Korea’s popular song Soyanggang Cheonyeo (maiden), is 12 m high in total, combining 5 m-high base stone and 7 m-high body. If you see it close to, the statue looks very big. The statue depicts a maiden who holds her skirt hem with one hand and reed with the other, and her breast-knot flapping in the wind. The base stone has the inscription of lyrics. The lyrics belong to the song Soyanggang Cheonyeo composed by Ban Ya-wol, who left hit songs, such as Crossing the Teary Pass of Bakdaljae, and Brokenhearted Miari Ridge.

Soyanggang Skywalk (소양강스카이워크)

The Soyanggang Skywalk, extending over the river, spans 174 meters in length, with a transparent glass floor covering 156 meters of its section. At the end of the skywalk, visitors will find a circular plaza and an observatory, renowned for their panoramic views, especially of the sunsets. Additionally, the Ssogarisang sculpture, depicting a leopard mandarin fish, stands on the opposite side of the plaza, drawing in visitors. Water from a fountain flows from this sculpture at fixed intervals, adding to the allure.

Chuncheon Joung Do Mullegil is a canoe rental shop offering a range of 1-2 hour courses around the beautiful Uiamho Lake. King Canoe Quay is the only place in Korea to experience Canadian canoes. They also created the first 12-seater Canadian canoe. It's an eco-friendly sport that produces neither noise nor the smell of oil. Canoes on tranquil lakes provide an opportunity to see another world from the earth because one is closer to the horizon. Take a wooden canoe along the Bukhangang River with the sound of water and enjoy the charm of the lake city Chuncheon. There are four major courses provided by King Canoe Quay: Uiam Dam, Bungeoseom Island, Hajungdo Island, and Uiamho Lake. The guide will also tell riders interesting stories related to Uiamho Lake on the canoe.
