Samnyeongsanseong Fortress was built during the Silla dynasty. The sprawling stone walls stretch 1.7 kilometers in length with x_heights and x_widths of 13-20 and 8-10 meters respectively. The name of the fortress comes from the time it took to complete the construction, three years ("sam nyeon" in Korean). The fortress was the site of many battles between Silla and Baekje during the Three Kingdoms Period.

This temple was founded in 1902. Yonghwasa Temple can be found about 2 kilometers down the small road from a National Road connecting Judeok-eup, Cheongju, with Eumseong. Unlike other Buddhist temples, which tend to be located in secluded places, Yonghwasa Temple is easily reachable from the city, attracting many visitors. Set against a backdrop of green lawns and forests, the temple's stupas, stelae, three-story stone pagodas, and guardian trees bring Buddhist culture to life. A Goryeo-era Standing Stone Buddha, a cultural heritage, can be found in the complex. Its elegant and full body, round face, and delicate expression of folds in the Buddha’s clothing all showcase the unique qualities of Goryeo-era Buddhist sculptures. The Buddha holds a medicine bowl in the left hand, which heals all diseases and eliminates all distractions in pursuit of truth.

On Songnisan Mountain is a rock summit 1,054 meters above sea level called Munjangdae Peak. The peak is so broad that 50 adults can sit on it at the same time. Among the rocks there is Seokcheon Pond, which never dries up. The peak used to be called “Unjangdae” because the summit is always covered with clouds and mist. Legend says that King Sejo of Joseon dynasty supposedly recited a poem on the summit.

Munjangdae has a great view of Cheonhwangbong Peak, the highest peak of Songnisan Mountain. Visitors can also see Gwaneumbong, Chilseongbong, Sirubong, Tugubong, Munsubong, and Birobong peaks. In autumn, visitors can enjoy views of breathtaking fall foliage along the trail, which begins at Hwabuk-myeon, Sangju. There are also many cultural heritage sites including Janggakpokpo Falls, Seongbuksa Temple, Osongpokpo Falls and Gyeonhwonsanseong Fortress.
