Jirisan Hanok Village, in Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do, is a famous old house at the foot of Jirisan National Park’s Cheonwangbong and Nogodan Peaks. Just 20 minutes by car away from Nogodan and Baemsagol Valley Trail, the place is popular with walkers especially in the summer. Businessmen, poets and writers come here for the beautiful scenery; in particular, a candidate for the 2008 Nobel Prize in Literature stayed and worked here for a while.

Cheonghak-dong, located at the foot of the ridge facing Hadong on Jirisan Mountain, is a village inhabited by 200 residents from thirty families. It hosts several seodangs (village schools), among which Seonbi Seodang stands out for its educational programs focusing on etiquette, character development, and Chinese characters. Additionally, the village offers a variety of experience programs, including traditional culture, farming activities, and perseverance training.

Hadong's tea fields, which are known as the thousand-year-old tea fields, are characterized by being wild rather than cultivated. Among the many tea gardens in Hadong, the one with the most beautiful and peaceful scenery is Dosimdawon. In “House on Wheels,” actor and singer Yim Si-wan and Girls' Generation Yoona sat in a pavilion and sipped green tea while looking out at the green tea fields stretched out below. Tea utensils and tea leaves in a picnic basket are available for rent so that you can brew your own tea.

Piagolgyegok Valley (피아골계곡)

Piagolgyegok Valley is located in Jirisan Mountain between Nogodan and Banyabong Peaks. The name of the valley comes from the crimson red maple leaves that fill the valley in fall. It is also one of the ten most beautiful highlights of Jirisan Mountain. The valley is famous for its fall colors, but it is also a beautiful place to visit all year around, from azaleas in spring to snow-covered rocks in winter.

Near the entrance to Piagolgyegok Valley is the largest temple in Jirisan Mountain, Yeongoksa Temple, and national treasures. The valley is not steep, providing an easy walk for all visitors. The trail stretches 6 kilometers from the ticket booth, and passes many beautiful places like Yeonjudam and Samhongso Pond. At the end of the valley, the trail continues another 2 kilometers up a steep hillside to reach Imgeollyeong Pass.

Jirisan Manbokdae Peak (지리산 만복대)

Manbokdae Peak in the west soars at the boundary between Sandong-myeon, Gurye-gun and Namwon-si at 1,433.4 meters above sea level. ”Man” means “full of something” and “bok” means “fortune.” Like the name, Manbokdae is considered as a fortunate mountain with great views as it is surrounded by smooth hills. According to an old story, Manbokdae Peak was chosen as one of the 10 scenic areas, where people come to receive good fortune.

Baraebong Peak (바래봉)

Baraebong Peak gets its name from its resemblance to an upside down barittae (a wooden rice bowl used by temple priests). The mountain is characterized by round slopes and fields of royal azalea flowers in spring. Trekking starts at Yongsan Village, 1.5 kilometers away from Unbong-eup. The trail follows a gentle path through a forest reserve behind a ranch and up to the peak. The last section of the trail before reaching the summit is covered in royal azaleas in full bloom from late April until May. The view from the peak includes the whole vista of Jirisan Mountain.

Shiri Pension consists of two floors with a total of six rooms where guests can take in the picturesque landscape of Jirisan Mountain while viewing the Piagol Valley and the Seomjingang River. This park provides a spectacular vista of Jirisan Mountain and a peaceful rest area for travelers navigating Odojae Pass.
