Gimbap may not be one of the city’s best-known specialties, but the festival was inspired by a playful word association between Gimcheon and “Gimbap Cheonguk (gimbap heaven).” The festival brings residents and visitors together with a lively mix of gimbap-themed activities, exhibitions, performances, and games. Visitors can make and taste gimbap themselves, with performances and hands-on activity zones offering something fun for all ages.

It highlights the historical importance of the Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong while giving visitors the chance to discover what life was like in prehistoric times through a wide range of programs. This year’s festival marks the 100th anniversary of the site’s discovery and takes place under the theme “The Breath of 6,000 Years, the Light of 100 Years, the Echoes of 30 Years.” The festival grounds are divided into four distinct zones inspired by water, fire, earth, and wind. Each zone brings its theme to life through creative displays, exhibitions, hands-on activities, nighttime programs, food, and performances. Over the course of three days, visitors can enjoy a unique experience that brings the past and present together.

Suwon Hwaseong Media Art is a nighttime festival held against the backdrop of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since its launch in 2021, the event has presented large-scale media art inspired by the fortress and its history. Beginning in 2026, the festival has been newly reimagined under the theme “Saebit Dongrak: Suwon Hwaseong Blossoming in Light,” inviting visitors to experience the site through light and shared enjoyment. Namhae Garlic & Korean Beef celebrates Namhae’s signature agricultural products: garlic and premium Korean beef. The festival takes place at the Namhae Exile Literature Museum, with five nearby parking areas for easy access. Visitors can browse and purchase a wide range of local specialties in one place, prepared by local farmers and fishermen, and enjoy the event alongside residents. There is a shuttle bus that takes passengers back and forth between the parking lot and the festival venue.
