This original musical is set during the transition from silent to sound films. As technology advances reshape the era, the very identity of acting as a profession is called into question, and two actors face both crisis and opportunity through their diverging choices and conflicts.
The story follows the contrasting fates of Jerome and Keith, two friends who once shared dreams of becoming actors at a place called “Gray House.” Jerome, traumatized in childhood and afraid to speak, rises to fame as a silent film star where dialogue isn’t required. Keith, blessed with natural talent, becomes one of the greatest actors on the theatrical stage. But with the advent of sound in cinema, Jerome’s career begins to falter, and Keith makes a risky choice: to lend his voice to his voiceless friend.
This work explores how friendship and artistic belief are tested and fractured by the tides of change. Through a play-within-a-play structure that shifts between past and present, it casts the question: what does it mean to preserve one’s identity in a rapidly changing world?
