Sungkok Art Museum was founded in 1995 by the Korean corporation Ssangyong to promote Korean art. The gallery offers a special exhibition featuring modern artworks of Korean artists, as well as competitions and sponsorships to develop Korean art. The first private museum to be established in Korea, Ho-Am Art Museum was founded on April 22, 1982 by Lee Byung-chul, the founder of Samsung. Buyeo National Museum (국립부여박물관)

Buyeo National Museum was first established by the Buyeo Preservation Society in 1929 as a collection of relics and artifacts related to the Baekje kingdom. This collection was on display at a government building from the Joseon dynasty until 1970, when a new building was erected on the southern foothills of Busosan Mountain. It moved again on August 6, 1993 to the current location. The museum has four exhibition halls and an outdoor exhibit with a total of about 1,000 relics on display.

Jeonju National Museum (국립전주박물관)

The Jeonju National Museum was established in 1990 as an institute for the research, preservation, and exhibition of Jeonbuk-do’s most prized cultural treasures. In November of 2002, a Social Educational Hall was opened as a creative educational space to provide visitors a place to experience traditional culture. The museum houses over 40,000 artifacts, a majority of which were excavated from the Jeollabuk-do area, and has on exhibit over 2,000 pieces spread throughout 4 exhibition halls and 1 outdoor exhibition hall. The museum also serves as a venue for numerous cultural activities and educational programs, providing visitors with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Korea’s proud history.

National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Deoksugung [MMCA Deoksugung] (국립현대미술관 덕수궁)

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Deoksugung (MMCA Deoksugung) was originally built as an annex to the National Museum of Contemporary Art. The museum specializes in seeking out and researching modern art, exhibiting and preserving it, supporting and developing educational programs, and furthering publications and international exchanges. Located within Deoksugung Palace, the center maintains a unique traditional atmosphere. The museum planned and showcased a total of 38 unique exhibitions from 1998 to 2005. Besides the exhibitions, the center has various performances such as music and mime, as well as lectures or seminars on artists' works.
