Chaewondang is a traditional Korean house located just in front of Seomjingang River Train Village, the best tourist spot in Gokseong. It is only 200 meters from the main gate of Chaewondang to the ticket office of the train village. Chaewondang boasts a well-shaped and spacious interior space, like a newly built Hanok. When you enter the room, you can feel the cleanliness of the uniqueness of the new house. The wooden pillars and beams, the eaves, and the roof of the tile create the charm of Hanok. The grass yard, flower beds, and jangdokdae are also worth seeing and the rice paddies and rural scenery spread out in front of Chaewondang are picturesque. The rooms are divided into sarang rooms and interior rooms. The sarang rooms are a place where a family can relax and take a rest comfortably. The interior rooms are equipped with a spacious living room and a room suitable for large family or group travel. The rich use of raw materials makes a pleasant tree smell. If reservations are made in advance, the breakfast table will be served with dasul gitang, daseulgi jeonggol, yukgaejang, and booger soup. Guests will be offered a 30 percent discount on tickets to Seomjingang Train Village, and a discount ticket for train rafting, survival, and horse riding Usville. We also have various experience programs. There are traditional Hanbok wearing, family motto brush writing experience, bicycle riding on a rural road, understanding of Hanok and joints system. Joseon Wangga (‘royal house’) in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do, was once the home of Yi Geun, grandson of the Emperor Gojong. Originally called Yeomgeundang and located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, it was dismantled and rebuilt here in 1935. Now it’s a hotel where guests can feel what it was like to live in a Joseon royal house. There are 15 guestrooms, each with a bathroom and a traditional tea set provided free of charge. A pay-for breakfast is provided with advance reservations. Guests can experience traditional crafts such as herbal soap-making and smoke therapy. It is possible to hire the hotel for workshops and traditional weddings. There is also a luxury camping site in which barbecues and campfires are allowed.

The Wildflowers and Old House Excursion in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, was the family house of the late Joseon period scholar Choi Eung-seong. The sarangchae and anchae both contain two guestrooms and are rented out as houses, while the gate house and the annex both have two rooms which can be booked separately. Renting the entire house is also possible, although there are no catering facilities. Sitting in the Old House’s pavilion is enough to recreate that old-time hanok atmosphere. Guests can play traditional games and have a go at gathering wildflowers, and making traditional foods like injeolmi and lotus leaf rice.

Sangyujae is the oldest hanok in Jeongseon-gun and has been designated a Gangwon-do tangible cultural asset. Next to the old stone wall stands a beautiful mulberry tree, which at 600 years old is itself a natural monument. The house consists of a sarangchae where visitors can stay, and an anchae, in which the owner resides. Rooms are equipped with ondol underfloor heating and bathrooms - but not TVs, the absence of which helps guests focus on their companions and on the traditional experience. A must visit place for tourists in Jeonju, Ilrakdang Sarangchae is located in the middle of the traditional Korean house village of Jeonju. Siwon is a timber and clay-built hanok stay, part of Jeonju Hanok Village in Jeollabuk-do. It has four guestrooms, all but one with a small attic - so guests can have fun climbing up and down the ladder! The rooms have all been insulated and draft-proofed to keep visitors warm and comfortable. In the yard is a small garden and swing, and guests can play traditional games such as Tuho and Jegichagi - or even take part in a carpentry workshop.
